Terms and Conditions - SAM Studios / SAM Schools

SAM Studios (Terms & Conditions for Students - Sussex Academy of Music Ltd):

When booking lessons, ensure that payment for the next batch of lessons is made on the final lesson of the previous batch, to ensure that your next lesson is confirmed.

Lessons are booked in minimum batches of 4 at a time, however there are discounts in place should you wish to book more, see the SAM website for further details or ask at reception.

Lessons will ONLY take place if already paid for, unless otherwise agreed with the Sussex Academy of Music Ltd.

The ‘FREE 1st LESSON’ promotion is only available once per student and CANNOT be used on multiple instruments. If after the first lesson, the student wishes to learn an alternative instrument then this lesson must be paid for.

You cannot cancel a lesson; however one lesson in every batch of four can be re-arranged if required with a minimum of 7 days notice.

If you fail to re-arrange or attend a lesson (this includes illness), you will be liable to pay the full lesson fee. The reason for this is that the Sussex Academy of Music Ltd arranges its rooms and tutors in advance and therefore is still liable for their fees.

In the event that a lesson has been re-scheduled, and for example has been delayed by a week, it can result that the missed lesson will be spread over lessons within that batch, for example by having a double length lesson.

If in the rare event your tutor cannot attend a lesson, an alternative tutor will be arranged or alternatively it will be re-scheduled at another convenient time.

If in the rare event the ‘students’ tutor has been changed to a replacement ‘tutor’, the lesson must still go ahead and is not an excuse for a cancellation to be made.

Lessons will still go ahead on school holidays, bank holidays and other public or religious holidays unless notified.

Lessons will still take place even under extreme weather conditions unless notified.

Fees for lessons are non-refundable, unless the Sussex Academy of Music Ltd has had to cancel a lesson(s) / workshop(s).

ALERT the Sussex Academy of Music Ltd of any changes in contact details.

ALWAYS discuss any issues relating to the scheduling of lessons, or indeed any other questions related to the Sussex Academy of Music Ltd with the person at reception. PLEASE NOTE, tutors do not deal with these matters.

For promotional purposes, photography / filming may be used very occasionally during lessons, any material used for publicity reasons will require additional consent of the student or parent/guardian of the student.

The Sussex Academy of Music Ltd advises students to wear ear protection during lessons and when practicing at home to protect hearing. We have a range of earplugs for sale at SAM. If you wish to purchase a set of earplugs please ask at reception.

Any property that does not belong to the Sussex Academy of Music Ltd, will be the responsibility of the owner, and the Sussex Academy of Music Ltd cannot be held liable for any damage or theft.

Students earn SAM Pounds every time lessons are bought, which is a type of currency that can be used to receive discounts on other SAM services and products (including Riverside Recording Studio, SAM Entertainment and SAM Shop) with the exception of tuition.

The Sussex Academy of Music Ltd accepts most common payment methods, including credit/debit card, online (BACS transfer and PayPal), cash and cheque.

Card payments are not accepted on transactions below the value of £1.00.
